Rural Electrification Is Our Priority – DG SEA

Cross River government has said arrangement has been concluded to launch total electrification of the 196 political wards in the 18 local government area before the end of the first tenure of the administration.

To achieve this, modalities have been worked out to officially flag off the programme by May 29 this year by the state governor Senator Ben Ayade.

This will help in reducing the scale of darkness in all the nooks and crannies in the state.

The Director General in the state electrification agency (SEA) Rt Hon. Jake Otu Enyia, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in his office.

According to him, all category of stakeholders including commissioners, Heads of local government councils, Paramount rulers, clan heads, community relations officers’ as well as the directors in the state electrification agency (SEA) have been mobilized for the collation/compilation of data of communities without electrification.

He explained that the issues of procurement, due Process and selection of contractors for the various electrification projects would be concluded within this time frame while May 29, 2017 has been earmarked as the day to formally launch the operation total light up of Cross River and zero tolerance on darkness by the governor, Ben Ayade.

He asserted that besides the Signature Projects and other projects being pursued by Ayade’s administration, it is instructive to know and to note that just like Mr. Donald Duke is remembered by Cross Riverians for Tinapa, Obudu Ranch Resort and other Tourism motivated projects.
