Resist the repeat of darks days of slavery in Akwa Ibom – Udom

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has charged the people of the state to resist every move by anybody to drag them back to dark days of slavery and servitude.
Governor Emmanuel who stated this in his state-wide Radio and Television broadcast to the people of the state on Christmas day also advised the people to be bold to expose any corrupt persons from the state.
“Let us collectively tell those people that the people of Akwaabasi Ibom State are free people and that we are not ready to allow outsiders, people who had underestimated us, fed on our commonwealth, who had reduced us to gatemen, cooks, houseboys and house girls to return us to those dark and tearful days”, he stated.
The Governor who also charged the people of the state not to allow the ambitions of an individual to poison the bond of unity in the state, declared that there was no vacancy in Hilltop Mansion and that his administration was intact and working to discharge the mandate given to him on April 11, 2015.
In his words, “Tell them that there is no vacancy in Hilltop Mansion, that you had elected the Governor on April 11, 2015, and that the Governor is working for the people. Tell them that you don’t want to return to the days when you could barely enjoy electricity for two hours; tell them that you now enjoy electricity up to 18 hours a day and that Governor Udom Emmanuel has made that possible
“Tell them that the Akwaabais Ibom people are proud and great people, that we have arisen to the fate of greatness, and that Akwaibom person is as good as any other person anywhere in the world. Tell them that we will not allow the ambitions of an individual to poison the waters of unity”, he added.
The state governor who pledged to do right and improve the living conditions of the people through rapid industrialization of the state, thanked the people for their support to his administration for the past almost seven months as well as the mandate as the governor.
He said that Akwa Ibom state was created great, therefore the people should rise above the spirit of laziness and lukewarm attitude but ascend to the “can do” spirit while also eschewing those tendencies of divide and rule.
