Reps to donate N18 million to Nigeria’s para-lympics team

Members of the House of Representatives Wednesday resolved to collectively donate N18 million to the Nigeria Para-lympics Team that represented the country at the just concluded Rio games.
In its resolution, the sum would be raised through the contribution of N50, 000 by each of the 360 member’s of the House.
The decision was sequel to the adoption of a motion by Hon.  Ayo Omidiran, who said the team deserved the support of the House, in view of the number of medals won by members of the team.
According to Omidiran, members of the team who were though physically challenged, did what has never been done in the history of the country’s performance in such sports, adding that she was moved by the feat, and so the need for the House to support and encourage them.
Contributing, Herman Hembe) said the House ought to celebrate members of the team.
Also in his submissions, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Goni Bukar said the performance of the Nigeria Para-lympics Team was outstanding, urging other athletes to replicate the feat.
