The member representing Kauru Federal Constituency, Mukhtar Chawai, has presented scholarship grants to qualified beneficiaries indigenes of Kauru Local Government Area.

The beneficiaries participated and performed excellently well in the scholarship process before a committee set up by the House member to screen all applicants from the local government studying in higher institutions in the country.

The 103 students were selected from the eleven wards that make up the Federal Constituency to receive grants to support their educational pursuits.

The Scholarship Bursary/Committee Chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Danmaraya, said  the  initiative is a demonstration of the member’s desire to build the intellectual capacity of the youth and students to make them relevant and productive as well achieve higher educational pursuits.

He explained that the scholarship scheme began in 2015 during his first tenure in the National Assembly, noting it is coming strongly again, especially at the time when the country is undergoing one of its most difficult socio-economic and political challenges.

According to him, “Despite the current economic reality leading to gross financial paucity, Mukhtar is committed to the implementation of his campaign promises of supporting the education of our children, especially those studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

“Even so, as a people, we still have a long way to go, and only through a joint effort by selflessly and honestly working with our elective representatives to complement their efforts with such a patriotic endeavor, we would be able to reach our fundamental goal.”

Danmaraya observed that they have in recent years, witnessed a significant increase of concern among their people in Kauru LGA for lack of sustainable educational support.

According to him, the selection process has nothing to do with any affiliations but is purely found qualified and would be awarded based on merit.

He charged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize the stipends given to them for the intended purpose and by so doing, they will have to positively contribute to the consolidation of the aims of this great initiative thereby underlying the attainment of its goals.

The Rep member, who was ably represented by the former Chairman of Kauru Local Government Area, Musa Waziri, commended the committee for doing a rigorous job in the selection process.

“The initiative is to encourage and promote credible education of the students to enable them to compete globally.

“I challenge you to work hard and avoid bad companies that could hinder you from achieving your goals,” Waziri said.

“The Federal lawmaker will collaborate with the State House of Assembly Member and the Council Chairman to have a higher number of beneficiaries,” he added.

Prof.Yohanna Tella and Prof. Abdulkadir Tukur from the Kaduna State University, charged the students to work hard, be responsible, and justify their certificate at the end of their programs.

The university dons prayed that students from the Kauru Federal Constituency would not be found wanting in any kind of examination malpractices but should be worthy ambassadors of Kauru local government area.

“I want to also advise the Rep Member to do a documentary on some of these initiatives for guidance and advised members of the public to shun all manners of human differences,” Yohana Tella noted.
