Member of the National Assembly representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal constituency in Kano state, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa said in Bauchi weekend that the House of Representatives has fully identified itself with the anti-graft crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.
“We identified fully by the anti-graft crusade of the present
government. We are all proud to be identified with Mr. President in his fight against graft and we will make sure that this country is
moved to the next level”, he said.
Hon. Doguwa explained that successes being recorded on the
anti-graft fight of the federal government will enable the country
secure the very little resources it has for the betterment of the
generality of its citizens.
The Lawmaker, in a chat with journalists debunked the alleged
selective punishment of the would-be victims of the anti-graft
crusade, describing the allegation as untrue because, as he puts it
“the Law is not friendly to anyone”.
“This Government as its being operated will have no excuse whatsoever to anybody, if you are involve I’m sure they will chase you, buy if you are not involve the law will explain why you are not involve and I want to believe that there is nothing like selection”, he asserted.
He added “Of course the opposition may say one thing or the other and, you cannot stop them because that is the only work available to them at the moment. They are not in government, people who have worked out of dreams to now find themselves on the streets, and then you expect a lot of speculations from their side”.
Doguwa, also the House Chief Whip, described as focused and democratic, the APC-led Federal government in its anti-graft crusade, a situation he said, positioned the NASS to come up with sister laws that creates legal framework that will help the Executive arm to succeed in the anti-corruption war.
The Chief Whip said it is however too early for anybody to pass
judgment on a government that will last for four years within only
twelve months of its assumption, and wondered why people are too hasty to pass judgment on achievements so far recorded by the government.
He assured that the APC-led federal government is not
oblivious of the commitments it made to the electorates as, according to him, the next three years provide ample opportunity for it to address most of the issues at stake.
“Don’t forget the APC has taken over government from a drunkard administration that has brought the economy of the country to its knees. Whether you like it or not we inherited an empty treasury, coupled with dwindling prices of oil in the international market and challenges of revenue sources and windows”, he stated.
Doguwa recalled that the APC government has succeeded in securing the Northeast, secured greater international image, delivered on anti-graft crusade, which are all campaign
promises, saying the remaining promises pending will be ably faced and achieve within the shortest possible time.
Doguwa was in Bauchi for the annual national convention
of the Bauchi Teachers College Old Students Association (BATCOSA). The school established in 1931, now known as General Hassan Usman Katsina Unity College (GHUKUC), where he represented House Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara.
