As activities marking Lagos International Trade Fair intensify, Chairman House Committee on Commerce, Hon. Ahmed Munir has sued for effective synergy between Legislative and Executive arms as surest way for enduring economic growth rooted on formulation and implementation of good fiscal policies, favourable to local and international investments.

Hon. Munir, made it known during the unveiling of the Commerce and Industry Lagos International Trade, at the trade fair complex, Lagos.

According to him, ensuring friendly business environment needed to attract direct foreign investment, capable of stimulating economic growth, providing job opportunities for citizens and improving standard of living of Nigerians had been the preoccupation of the 10th Assembly.

He lauded several initiatives of President Bola Tinubu-led administration aimed to transform the country on pedestal of sustainable development built on efficient service delivery to the people.

He stated that Nigeria was endowed with abundant human and material resources needed for the country to grab and retain her spot as global economic powerhouse.

All that the country needs according to him, is purposeful and visionary leadership with passion and foresight for welfare and interest for the present and future generations.

The 10th Assembly under the leadership of Speaker Abbas Tajudeen he stressed, is poised and capable to pass such laws in synergy with the executive arm to accelerate favorable outcomes for all.

The Lere Federal Constituency Member revealed that the present leadership was not unaware of challenges faced across the nation, soliciting patience from nigerians to allow gradual implementation of several policies such as Consumer Credit Scheme, Decentralization of electricity generation, transmission and distribution, Student Loan Scheme, Business Incentives, Law on Rebuilding the capacity and efficiency of the Central Bank among others.

He expressed optimism that the 50 billion Naira grant to 1,300 small businesses across 774 local governments of the federation would yield positive results in turning small scale entrepreneurs to future mega business owners.

The federal legislator attributed depth of Nigeria’s economic nightmare to many years of neglect by previous administrations, expressing hope in the present leadership both in executive and legislative arms to chart a new course and change the narratives in all aspects of life.

He said Tinubu is on the right path to change the ugly record of Nigeria having the highest global number of over 18 million out of school children, saying policy was underway to reverse the ugly development.

Under the doctrine of separation of power as enshrined in the constitution, the member assured that the present legislature was ready to perform and discharge its mandates of lawmaking, oversight, representation and budgeting in the interest of the nation.

He said opening up of the nation’s seaports for improved productivity and to enhance balance of trade and maximise revenue generation to finance fiscal expenditures would metamorphose to positive results.
