Reps approve N70.6 billion as NCC’s 2016 budget

Just about one month to the end of the year, the House of Representatives yesterday approved N70.6 Billion for Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) for the year ending on 31 December, 2016.
This came at the instance of the consideration and adoption of the report presented by the House Committee on Communications, chaired by Hon. Saheed Fijabi.
The Report, considered by the Committee on Supply chaired by Speaker Yakubu Dogara saw the House authorizing the issue from the Statutory Revenue Fund of the Nigerian Communications Commission the Total Sum of (₦70,672,492,000.00) Seventy Billion, Six Hundred and Seventy-Two Million, Four Hundred and Ninety-Two Thousand Naira only, out of which the sum of (₦22,211,186,000.00) Twenty-Two Billion, Two Hundred and Eleven Million, One Hundred and Eighty-Six Thousand Naira only, for Recurrent Expenditure, the sum of (₦15,651,475,000.00) Fifteen Billion, Six Hundred and Fifty-One Million, Four Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Naira only, for Capital Expenditure.
The sum of (₦6,557,708,000.00) Six Billion, Five Hundred and Fifty-Seven Million, Seven Hundred and Eight Thousand Naira only, was also approved for Special Projects while the sum of (₦8,584,000,000.00) Eight Billion, Five Hundred and Eighty-Four Million Naira only, and (₦17,668,123,000.00) Seventeen  Billion, Six Hundred and Sixty-Eight Million, One Hundred and Twenty-Three Thousand Naira only, will be transferred to the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) and the Federal Government of Nigeria, respectively and from the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) the Sum of  (₦16,325,268,000.00) Sixteen Billion, Three Hundred and Twenty-Five Million , Two Hundred and Sixty-Eight Thousand Naira only.
Hon. Fijabi earlier in his brief appealed to the House for understanding over the late presentation,  explaining that the report had to be stepped down on the  due to typographic error and wrong placement of figures.
