Kwarbai Community in Zaria City, Kaduna State has been thrown into confusion, following the sighting of Shehu Umar, former Ciroman Baraya, who was being arraigned by a court in Kaduna and was expected to be in prison custody for allegedly raping a boy.

Shehu Umar was arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrate Court on January 3, 2023 for Cognisance contrary to section 259 of Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.

A family member of the victim, Hamza Zubairu who spoke to New Nigerian in Zaria  yesterday, on behalf of the community, expressed serious concerns over the release of Shehu Umar without concluding trial.

He said, while the families of the victim are anxiously waiting for the court appearance, they were shocked to see the accused at home.

Hamza Zubairu said, when they intensified investigation on the circumstances surrounding his release they discovered that two persons, Maryam Talatu Adama of No 1 Zambiya Crecent, Kwarbai and Umar Aminu of Kwarbai were the surety for his bail.

” Unfortunately all the surety are fake as the said address is false”. He alleged.

It would be recalled that the incident happened on the 9th December, 2022 when the suspect being a neighbour,  called a boy to enter his room at Unguwar Kwarbai, Zaria City to pick money for him on top of a table, which the boy obeyed and he allegedly followed him and closed the door and threatened him with knife  to kill him if he refused his demand.

The suspect surprisingly was in Court on Wednesday March 15, 2023 and left as the case was adjourned to April 13, 2023.

The family appealed to the Kaduna State government and relevant stakeholders to intervene on the matter to allow Justice to prevailed.
