Accord Party  candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Mr Kolapo Kola-Daisi has tasked the Federal Government to redirect NIgeria’s resources to funding of basic sectors such as education and health.

Featuring on Oyo NUJ personality Forum, ‘The Podium’ held at the Council’s Press Centre Iyaganku, Ibadan over the weekend, the Senatorial candidate declared that it is now time to start prioritising issues concerning  young people.

He emphasized that if voted as the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, his focus would be to prioritise youth empowerment for economic emancipation and nation building.

” There is a lot of wastage in the government. There are a lot of resources to be re – directed to do some certain things. We need to find the lasting solutions to the problem with ASUU. If they settle ASUU now, the problem will still persist, we need to find lasting solutions. We need to redirect the resources of the country. Look at our exchange rate”, he pointed out.

Mr Kola – Daisi added,  ” what I am saying is that we need to redirect the resources of this country. We need to understand that. As a government, it is high time we look at the way and how to allocate our resources. As far as I am concerned, we need to realise as a nation that we have to start prioritising our young people.I am getting into politics not only for myself, but to be an inspiration for young people . I hope when I get there, I will be able to provide that role model type inspiration to young people”.

Lamenting the negative effects of the industrial action on the youths population in the country, Mr Kolapo Kola Daisi said  the best way to tackle incessant strikes of ASUU ” is for the present government to block wastages and redirect the resources of the country to tackle the basic problems in the areas of education and health”, saying, ” I am not saying that particular demands have to be met, but what we are saying is that we need to try and redirect a lot of our resources as a nation to start focusing on what is important. We need to look at this resource allocation and dedicate a lot more of our budget to help those children be in school”.

Speaking further, he emphasized that an addition of the jobless youths with students who are not going to school would no doubt bring lot of unrest to the nation, saying, ” as a government, I think that it is high time we start looking at how we allocate resources when we do our budget.”

“Find those things that are unnecessary and redirect them to ensuring that we keep our children in schools. Let them have education. Let them have the best education. Let’s give our teachers also what they need to be able to teach our brothers and sisters the best,”

Stressing  that such was the only way the students can graduate to contribute meaningfully to human capital development and nation building, the Senatorial candidate

promised to ensure that his experience and professional prowess would be brought to bear in his a activities as well as nation building.
