Recipients Of 2022 Northwest Sports Legendary Awards Vow To Continue Promoting Sector

Recipients of the 2022 Northwest Sports Legendary Awards have reiterated resolve to continue to promote sports development.

They made the statement in  goodwill messages after  conferred with their awards at the Asaa Pyramid Hotel Kaduna at the weekend.

Earlier, in a remark, Kaduna State Commissioner of Sports Development, Samaila Idris Nyam, said the ministry is always keen to join with partners to be able to promote  sports.

“We are here today to support this team, considering that one of our major drives is to promote sport as a business, the reason being that with each sports association been inaugurated in the state and every identified sport is been supported to be sustainable”.

Nyam noted that, “Whilst as it is, we also support sport for Peace to bring harmony among the youths, that is why we have quite several sporting activities through the start of this year till now, to be able to provide skills for the youths and also to give them opportunities to be identified by international renown scouts, that also turn out be champions of the world”.

The Commissioner, however, congratulated the awardees and presented some of the awards to some of them, while he was conferred with a Special Sports Recognition award as, “Most Valuable Sports Personality & icon of Hope in Youth Development in Kaduna State for the year 2022”.

In an interview, the convener of the 2022 Northwest Sports Legendary Awards, Mr. Solomon Omonokhua who expressed delight in the success of the event, however, explained the award categories.

“It is high time in our time to start recognizing people who are contributing to the sport system so that they will be encouraged to do more because we believe that sport is one program that can unite people together and also help the younger ones identify their strength and talents and how they can succeed in the game.

The categories awarded include Sports Business People, Active Sports people, veterans Sports People”.

He added that in the process they also consider the place of politicians and selected some for the award for their impact and promotion of harmony and peace with the sport.

Others who were presented with the awards include, Surveyor Timothy Samuel -“as most outstanding charitable man in Northern Nigeria for the year 2022”, Mr Eric Kefas, Coach of Custom Volleyball, “as most valuable sports philanthropist in Nigeria for the year 2022″, and Usman Shehu Bawa, who was presented with the Most young influential Personality & icon of Hope in Youth Development in Kaduna State for the year 2022”.
