In an efforts to uphol its policy of avoiding extravagance in government spending, Kebbi state government on Wednesday said it will no longer hire private jets for official trips unless on emergencies.
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baballe Umar Yauri disclosed this at a press briefing organized by the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ held at cabinet office in Birnin Kebbi.
“Yes government observed that it is spending a lot on hiring private jets whenever its officials travel for official assignments” said Baballe Yauri.
“That’s why we decided to look for other means of traveling ourselves and use what we suppose to travel by air for developmental projects” he added
He noted that Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is complying with due process and rule of law as well as transparency in the discharge of his administration.
He however assured people of the state of government’s determination to ensure welfare of the citizenry.
