A non governmental organisation (NGO), ARRIDA Relief Foundation in the spirit of Ramadan aided about one thousand internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the North East taking refuge in Kaduna with food items and clothing.
Making the presentation, the Chair of the Foundation, Hajiya Rabi Ibrahim said the plight of the IDPs call for concern as most of them do not know the where about of their husbands and or parents following the insurgency in the North East that forced them out of their ancestral homes.
She called on the government at various levels to come to the aid of the IDPs as catering for them is a great burden.
Hajiya Ibrahim also pleaded for the posting of Youth Corps Members to IDP camps to teach the children as a means of preparing them for a better future and ensure they are divorced from societal ills, as any educated person is a liberated mind.
She also requested for support of development partners to strengthen the training of the women most of whom are widows in small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs).
Foods distributed to the IDPs include grains, pastry, sugar and clothing.
The benefiting IDPs and camps are Mararaban Jos; 120, Kyauta Village; 270, Rafin Guza; 120, Hayin Danmani; 100 and Jere/Rijana; 300.
