The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji has asked Muslims across Nigeria to show love to others for the much needed peace and progress in Nigeria to be a reality.
Oba Adetunji stated this in his message signed by his Director of  Media and Public Affairs, Alhaji  Adeola Oloko to mark the commencement of this year’s Ramadan fasting.
The royal father pointed out that fasting in the month of Ramadan, apart from being one of the five pillars of Islam, “is a time of abstinence from worldly pleasures which includes but, not limited to eating and drinking”.
He stressed “that it is not a right but a privilege to be alive to witness the dawn of another Ramadan, adding that  Muslim faithfuls should take advantage of the fasting period to re-examine their lives and make amendments where necessary.
While stressing that the period of Ramadan “is a time to get closer to Almighty Allah”, he said, “I have no doubt that if the fasting is properly observed all our petitions shall be answered by Almighty Allah as it is a question of faith”.
Praying to God that those that starts the Ramadan fast would Insha Allah complete it, Oba Adetunjisaid, “It is also a time to share and care for the needy and show charity to mankind, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religious and ideological persuasion”.
