The House of Representatives has passed a resolution to raise a special delegation to visit Katsina State, especially the Jibia town where rainstorm and flood wrecked havoc on, Tuesday.
The delegation is expected to carry the House’s commiseration to the people and government of Katsina State, and those affected by the incident.
This came following a motion on the matter brought under matters of urgent national importance, by Hon. Salisu Salisco, who expressed regrets that 58 persons reportedly lost their lives, and 20 still missing after the incident.
While a minute’s silence was on Thursday observed in honour of the victims on the floor, the House called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to as a matter of urgency, provide relief materials for the affected persons.
Recalling the devastating effect of the storm, Salisco said “many houses were destroyed and more than 500 people have lost their homes and are using the primary schools as temporary shelter, while many have been hospitalized”.
