Raging cult war in Calabar claims another policeman’s life

As the rivalry cult war continues to rage in Calabar for weeks now, a dare devil cultists group Friday killed a police man and snatched the pilot vehicle of the Cross River Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Esu.
They over powered the policeman in a fierce gun battle as well as shot the driver.
An eye witness account said the incident occurred  along Goldie Street opposite the NNPC filling station in Calabar at about 7pm yesterday.
Our sources said the driver of the pilot vehicle ran into a group of heavily armed cultists who were marching along the streets at the time of the incidence.
It would be recalled that the state capital has been under siege over a week following a renewed clash between rival cult groups in the state.
More15 deaths have been allegedly recorded due to the conflict.
Only on Tuesday night a police Inspector was killed along Nkwa street in Calabar, while on patrol by a group of cultists.
Thee pilot vehicle was leading others cars as the escorted the deputy governor to his house shortly after their executive council meeting.
The officer and the driver ran in the deadly group  after dropping him off and the vehicle proceeded to drop the security men in the vehicle in their houses.
The cultists, numbering over 20, were armed with guns and machetes our sources added.
Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incidence “saying it occurred on Thursday adding the officer could not survive the gun shot.
Ugbo denied that the cultists drove off with the vehicle, saying it had been recovered adding that no arrests have been made.
