The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe on Wednesday  called upon  the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) to put in their best to tackle  maternal mortality in the state.
Speaking during a courtesy visit of NMA and Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, Kaduna branch who came to government house in Kaduna, she urged them to be focused.

According to her, “we all need to put in our best as we have issues of health. In bringing down the maternal mortality rate, we have a big role to play.”
She said, “let there be a difference. I want to see a change in right  the direction, even if it is putting something down to be focused to give us direction.
“We have many cases of gender based violence, our youth are  misusing and abusing drugs, this is a platform in which they use to perpetrate crime in the society.
“However, the government cannot do anything alone, we are always delighted in having partnership and collaboration so that we can put things up  together,” she said.
She assured the association that their report will be looked into.
“It will be done, very soon we will sit down and deliberate on that report, it has been scheduled not once or twice and I pray that your tenures will be very very  fulfilling   and fruitful as you will leave something for those who are coming in.
“I want to see increase in quality  service delivery  for women. We want  a situation that our children are healthy, where we don’t have to be running around because there is an outbreak of measles or cholera all over the place.
“We need to strengthen our engagement with the ministry of health,” she pointed out
The Deputy Governor assured them of  readiness to continue putting in her best so that they have a state that all will be proud of.

In her remarks, the President Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, Dr. Zainab Idris Kwaru said they were at the government house to visit to the deputy governor, who was a key member and one of their patrons in the association.
“We came also to present the new executives to her,   in addition,  to let her know the activities that Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria Kaduna State branch has been conducting, and  we will continue to conduct for the next two years 2021-2023.
“We’re also here  to solicit for her support in all our activities as well as blessings,  to be able to deliver our mandate as medical women across the state,” she said.
