Promotion goes with additional responsibilities – AIG

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 2, Abdulmajid Ali has charged newly promoted officers to double their efforts in the discharge of their duties, pointing out that promotion goes with additional responsibilities.
Ali, who  gave the charge yesterday, when he decorated two newly promoted officers to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) remarked that promotion goes with additional responsibilities, which required them to add value to their job.
Stressing that promotion is a motivational factor for a job well- done, the police chief pointed out that the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris attaches importance to the issue of promotion and would not tolerate indolence.
His words, “Promotion is a motivational factor for a job well- done. Let me remind you that it is additional responsibilities from the level they are and for then to add value to the job. The IG takes promotion very seriously and would not expect nothing less from you”.
 
Speaking further, Ali said it is expected of individual police officers, inspite rank to maintain and abide by the rule of law, display courage and add value to whatever they do.
“Your behaviour should be of additional core value and display professionalism, you must obey the principle of professional policing” he further enjoined.
 
The newly promoted officers include ACP Sola Okediji, who until the promotion was the Assistant Commissioner of Police Area “M” , Lagos, transfered to Abuja and ACP Titilayo Kayode, now Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCP) operations, Lagos command.
While fielding questions from newsmen, AIG disclosed that the force has witnessed mass promotion recently, adding that over 500 cops were promoted in Ogun State, including the rank and file, before he left for Zone II.
