A prominent Islamic Scholar, Sheik Dahiru Usman Bauchi has called on Nigerians regardless of their religious inclination to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria as a whole for Allah’s protection, guidance and direction.
This is just as he tasked the Muslims in particular to genuinely use this holy month of Ramadan  ‎to fervently pray for the peace of the nation in all ramifications.
Sheikh Bauchi made the call at the weekend when he received at his Kaduna residence ‎the Honourable Minister of Youths and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung who led over 20 Christian clerics to break the fast with him.
The Islamic scholar described ‎the persistent effort of Barrister Dalung in strengthening inter-religious harmony and promoting peaceful co-existence among different faiths in Nigeria as a course worthy of emulation.
He called on Nigerians to be patient with the new policies introduced by the present administration, saying, it will soon be a thing of the past and Nigeria as a country will be better for it at the long run.
It would be recalled that Barrister Dalung has led Christian clerics to break fast with top Islamic scholars in the past four years consistently.
Earlier, the Minister reiterated the need‎ for prayers, while calling on muslim scholars to keep on praying for a lasting peace, rapid socio-political and economic development in the country.
He called on Nigerians to always see themselves as brothers and sisters,‎ eschew all forms of religious, tribal or ethnic bitterness and strive to always live as one family created by God.
Speaking on behalf of the Christian clerics,‎ the General Overseer of the Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship, Pastor Yohanna Buru,  said “we use Ramadan period to strengthen relationship between Muslims and Christians, and that is why annually for the past four years, we usually join Muslims to break fast, visit them at their homes and attend their Tafsir at their places of worship.
Pastor Buru also informed that freedom for Muslim prisoners are always secured in the month of Ramadan to enable them partake in the fasting and pray for Nigeria.
Pastor Buru also added that as Christians, “our bible teaches us to love our neighbours and that is why we usually donate food stuff to Muslims, widows, internally displaced persons and less privileges in the societies”.
