Twice purposed visit to Bauchi State by President Muhammadu Buhari has been cancelled again for some unforeseen circumstances.
The first visit which was earlier scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, 2016 was postponed because the President Buhari was on that date billed for Banjul, the Gambian capital as part of the ECOWAS mediation team in that country elections.
President Buhari and some African leaders led by the Economic Committee of West African States, ECOWAS Chairman, President Sirleef Johnson were mandated to mediate in Gambian electoral crisis.
President Yahaya Jammeh had following Gambian recent elections after conceding a defeat, vowed not to step down for what he described as elections characterized by irregularities.
President Buhari,  whose proposed visit to Bauchi was rescheduled for December 29, 2016 was also cancelled three hours to his arrival to Bauchi for what weather experts from Abuja described as hazy weather condition .
The President in a recorded message to the Government and people of Bauchi State expressed his displeasure for his inability to be in Bauchi Thursday for bad weather condition.
Buhari however appealed to the people of the state to exercise patience for the cancellation of the visit for what he described as divine intervention, assuring that a new and suitable date will be announced for his proposed visit to Bauchi.
The President is expected to be in Bauchi not on a state visit but following an invitation by the Nigerian Air Force to commission a Reference Hospital at its Bauchi 200 composite Base.
Reacting to the new development, the State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar urged the people of the state to show understanding over the development, saying the cancellation was done in good fate and has no political undertone.
Governor Mohammed Abubakar explained that a new date will be announced for Mr. President’s visit that will make it a state visit during which he will, apart from the Air Force project, also commission other state projects.
.
“Everybody is aware that apart from President Buhari’s home state of Katsina, there is no state that shows love to him more than Bauchi state, and he realized that, he even said it in his statement following the cancellation of the proposed visit”.
Abubakar further revealed that aides of Mr. President were in Bauchi three days to the proposed visit but regretted that the visit was not possible due to bad weather condition.
