Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina says that the Presidency will be willing to partner with the Nigeria Football and other Sports Supporters Club even as he commended the club for its role in the development of sports in the country.

He stated this when he paid a visit to elders of the club at its international headquarters situated at Ayinde Giwa Street, Surulere, Lagos.
According to him, Nigerians will always appreciate the contributions made by members of the club whenever Nigeria is participating in any international competition, urging them not to relent in their efforts.

“Supporters Club has played a vital role in moving the country’s sports forward and no competition is complete without their presence”
“I remember the Daman Miracle of 1989 when Nigeria was down by 4 goals at the U-20 World Cup tagged “Saudi 89”, the club then did not relent in their efforts at supporting the team until those goals were cancelled and Nigeria eventually won the match”, he noted.
The Presidential aide noted that President Muhammadu Buhari as a sports loving President will be willing to give the club his support to enable Nigeria win more laurels at international competitions.
“President Buhari is a sports loving President. You will remember that when he assumed office last year something spectacular happened in our football as the Golden Eaglets who won the World Cup in 1985 when he was Military Head of State repeated the feat 30 years after he assumed office as civilian President and he will be willing to give the club all support it need to succeed.
Adesina used the occasion to sign a condolence register opened by the club for the two departed coaches of the Super Eagles; Stephen Keshi and Shuaibu Amodu describing their death as a big loss to the country.
Earlier in his welcome address, President General of the club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo thanked him for finding out time in his busy schedule to visit the club just as he solicited for Federal Government support as the club prepares to travel to Brazil later in the year for the Rio 29016 Olympics.
