The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Mudashiru Abdullahi, has vowed that the Police officers and men will be fair to all and not take side with any political party or candidate on Saturday, 25th September, 2021 rescheduled election in Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area (LGA).

The Commissioner of Police gave the assurance when Concerned Citizens from Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area visited him at the Police Headquarters in Kaduna ahead of the Saturday’s election to discuss vital issues bothering the local government and to assure the Police Commissioner of community’s support to ensure a hitch-free election.

He explained that the Police have displayed high level of professionalism and neutrality during the September 4th, 2021 elections that were conducted in 19 LGAs across the state, assuring that the same situation would repeat itself in the remaining four local government areas rescheduled election.

The Commissioner enjoined the group to report any Police Officer who is involved in any act tantamount to overturning the will of the people or collaborating with any politician to discredit the electoral process.
Mudashiru Abdullahi assured the group that he would not take it lightly with any Police that undermined the credibility of his agency and also called on the people to give the Police the necessary support to carry out their duty of protecting lives and properties of the people.
He assured the group of a sustainable Police-community partnership to strengthen Police presence in the local government area.

Leader of the group, Mr. Luka Binniyat, said, they have confidence in the Police and they believe they will be neutral during the Saturday’s rescheduled election.
He said that their visit was aimed at reminding the Police of the expectations of the people on them and to further strengthen the corporation between the Police and the people.
Barr. Kasai Arung, a member of the group lamented that what has emboldened insecurity in Zangon-Kataf local government area is partly as a result of lack of trust on the security agents.
He noted that the security agents in some quarters were not viewed as allies but, brutish against the natives and appealed to the Police to change their approach to make them more friendly.
He went further said that the local government area has had its fair share of hostility and volatility and anything that will trigger any further crisis should not be tolerated.

It would be recalled that Brinin Gwari, Kajuru, Chikun and Zangon Kataf local government areas in the state could not participate in the September 4, 2021 council election conducted in the state due to what the Chairman, Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM), Dr Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu said was due to the security challenges in the areas.
