Operatives of the State Crimimal Investigation Department (SCID) are quizzing a civil servant in Lagos over his attempt to commit suicide.
Identified as Akinlolu Ajayi, 54, a staff member of LSDPC Town Planning, Ilupeju, resident at No.1, Owodunni Street, Oworonsoki area of the state, the man according to the command will be prosecuted at the completion of investigation.
He was said to have attempted to take his life  by trying to jump in the lagoon at the UNILAG water front axis of the Third Mainland bridge at about 9.25am on 15th September, 2021.
According to report, he was rescued by a team of Anti-Crime patrol attached to Bariga Division, who were on a routine patrol of the area and immediately taken into protective custody.
While confirming the incident, the police public relations officer CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu said the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation and subsequent prosecution.
Ajisebutu added that the Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu directed that the man’s family should be contacted for necessary action.
Odumosu therefore appealed to members of the public not to take their own lives no matter the challenges they are currently facing.
The police boss said such challenges are merely ephemeral, just as he warned that such condemnable act is not only morally wrong but is also criminal.
