Katsina State Police Command has neutralised three suspected notorious bandits leaders and recovered one operational motorcycle.
Spokesman of the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu who made the disclosure to Newsmen at the Command headquarters in Katsina metropolis, said the success was recorded under the leadership of the Police Commissioner, Aliyu Abubakar Musa in his determination to fight banditry in the state.
Sadiq Aliyu said it was on November 25, 2023, at about 1030 hours while on a joint patrol with members of the vigilante, on reaching Kwarare area of Jibia local government area, some suspected kidnappers opened fire on the joint patrol team, to which the officers valiantly returned fire, forcing the terrorists to abandon their evil plan and flee into the nearby bush.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Aliyu said while combing the scene and surrounding bushes, the bodies of three (3) neutralised suspected kidnappers as well as one operational motorcycle of the bandits were recovered. According to him, “bodies of the neutralised suspected kidnappers were later identified as those of (1) Bala Wuta, a suspected notorious bandits’ leader terrorising Jibia LGA and its’ environs; (2) Dogo Na Sahura; and (3) Hassan Bukuru. Efforts are on with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.”
He said “while praising the operatives’ professionalism, synergy, and bravery, the CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa urged the officers to sustain the tempo and called on good citizens of the state to keep providing the command and other security agencies with crucial and timely information on criminal activities so that swift and decisive action could be taken to stop any criminal activity in the state and to report to the nearest police station any person seen with suspicious injuries, as some of the bandits have escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.”
