Illicit drugs valued at about N10 million were on Tuesday destroyed by the Lagos State Police Command.
The drugs, mainly cannabis sativa, said to be about four thousand raps, was intercepted in April at Mile Two by the operatives of the command’s Rapid Responds Squad.
The destruction exercise took place at the Ewu Elepe dumpsite in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ahmed Kontangora who led the team said the destruction followed a court order.
He added that three suspects were also arrested in connection with the seizure.
Kontangora assured that the destruction is going to be a continuous exercise, adding that there is not going to be any hiding place for criminals in the state.
The exercise was witnessed by the operatives of the NDLEA, NAFDAC, and other relevant agencies.
His words, ” We are here to executive the court order in respect of the destruction of hard drugs recovered by the RRS in the Lagos State police command
” Here we have about 4000 raps of different kinds of drugs India helms, cannabis and other drugs that are being recovered in the last one month by men of RRS and the value is over ten million naira which we have gotten after diligent investigation
” I assure you, this is going to be a continuous exercise and after this, we still have some other drugs to be brought here very soon for the same destruction in accordance with the court order.
” It is a continuous exercise there is no hiding place for any criminal, not even the drug addicts or peddlers any kind of crime or criminalities will be fought in this command and there is no hiding place for these criminals”
