Police rescues tanker with 36,000 liters of petrol from armed robbers on Ife/Ilesa expressway

Men of the Osun Police Command on Monday recovered a tanker with 36,000 litres of petrol along Ife/ Ilesha expressway.
According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Folashade Odoro made available to newsmen, the tanker marked MKA 887 ZF, was hijacked by a gang of armed robbers.
The PPRO stressed that the driver of the tanker and his motor boy escaped from the hands of the gang to alert the policemen on patrol on the road.
She stated that the Safer Highway Police Patrol team 014 led by Insp. Oyeogbe Ojekere upon the distress call by the driver, responded promptly and recovered the tanker with its content intact from the armed robbers.
The PPRO declared that the hijackers on sighting the Police patrol team heading towards their direction abandoned the tanker and flee into the nearby bush.
SP Odoro added that the state Commissioner of Police Mr Fimihan Adeoye who lauded the police patrol team assured that the robbers would soon be arrested by men of the Nigeria Police.
