Two persons suspected to be members of Yoruba Nation agitators have been apprehended by police in Lagos.

The suspects were said to be among a gang numbering 15 that stormed the Alausa Police Station at about 5.35am chanting ” Yoruba nation” has taken over song.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the agitators also injured some police officers in the process of dispersing them.

Some charms, cutlass, vest, cap with Yoruba Nation insignia inscribed on them were said to have been recovered from the suspects..

Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the report in a release made available to newmen on Sunday.

He said,  “Two of the agitators were arrested while the rest took to their heels following the prompt and coordinated response of the police.

“The suspects who were arrested with charms, dangerous weapons and different offensive insignias bearing Yoruba Nation Army, stormed Alausa Division along with others at about the same time another set of the group was attempting to take over a radio station in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“They claimed they came to officially inform the Police that the United Nations had granted approval for the take off of Yoruba Nation.

“The arrested suspects are currently assisting the Police in the ongoing investigation into the subversive plans of the group as well as their network of sponsors, all of whom will soon be unveiled and brought to deserved justice in the overriding internal security interest of the State.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, uses this medium to warn all subversive elements to steer clear of the state as the Command is fully ready and has the strong will and operational orientation  to bring the full weight of the law to bear on them or on any other elements that might attempt to disrupt the stable security order in Lagos.

“The CP notes that the Command, while working in synergy with other security agencies, has maximally deployed its intelligence, human and operational assets across the length and breadth of the state to effectively suppress any ill-advised person or groups under any nomenclature  who might be attempting to test the law enforcement will of the Command before, during and after the May 29, 2023 inauguration”, Hundeyin stated.

CP Owohunwa equally appreciates the good people of Lagos State for their unrelenting cooperation with the police and urges them to continue to manifest their patriotism by promptly reaching out to the police or nearest security agency whenever the need
