Benue State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of two kidnapped victims and arrest of one of the kidnappers in Utange Council Wardin Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
The command also confirmed the death of three kidnapping gang members at Utange Council Ward in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area after the Police team launched attack on them.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, said the operation according to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hassan Steve Yabanet was geared towards curbing banditry in the area.
”On 29/5/2024 at about 0600hrs Officers of the Operation Zenda JTF, stormed a kidnap hideout at Utange Council Ward in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.”
The statement further said that on sighting the Police, kidnapers led by the gang leader, Tersue Dada aka “Causer” engaged the team in a gun duel but were overpowered by the superior fire power of the police.
