Police in Bauchi arrest 3 women for child trafficking

Bauchi state Police command has arrested three women for alleged involvement in child trafficking, a statement by the Command Public relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed has said.
According to a statement made available to newsmen in Bauchi Sunday, the suspects were arrested last Friday by Police detectives attached to the state command.
A 37 year old woman, Talatu Dauda of Plateau state allegedly sold two stolen children at the sum of N280, 000.
“The suspect sold a baby boy of seventeen months old to one Mrs. Ann Okechukwu and 50 years of Imo State at the rate of N200, 000 and a baby girl of 14 months to one Mrs. Hannah Ashaku, 41 years old of Benue State at the rate of N80,000”, the PPRO said.
DSP Haruna Mohammed explained that the two babies were recovered and the mother of the girl, Fauziya Adamu was traced while efforts are being made to locate the boy’s father
The Police spokesman said the three suspects arrested made confessional statements and are assisting the Police with useful information after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.
