Police arrest 6 suspected kidnappers in Bauchi

State Police Command in Bauchi has said that it has arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued 2 teenagers abducted by the hoodlums.
Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed told newsmen in Bauchi that the arrest was successful when the Command officers raided hideouts of the criminals in Bauchi and Ganjuwa Local Government Areas of the state.
“In order to rid the State of incessant cases of kidnappings which has become a source of concern to the command, Police detectives attached to the State Anti-Kidnapping unit led by ASP Mustapha Mohammed raided various hideouts of Armed groups in Kibni, Mada and Kajut forests all in Bauchi/Ganjuwa LGA of Bauchi State and arrested six suspected kidnappers.
“Discreet investigation further led to the rescue of 2 kidnapped victims from the hideout and they are Ayuba Saidu male, 15yrs and Umaru Saidu male,12yrs of Bojinji in Bauchi LGA”, DSP Mohammed said.
He gave the names of the suspects armed robbers whose ages range between 18 and 21 years as Ahmed Yusuf, Abdulhameed Abubakar, Haruna, Ahmadu Adamu, Usman Musa, and Ahmed Mohammed.
The Police spokesman said all the suspects confessed to have organized series of kidnappings and collected ransom ranging from N50,000 to millions of naira from their victims.
He explained that exhibit recovered from the hoodlums include one fabricated gun, three cutlasses, bow and arrows, three handsets used to negotiate ransom , four Bajaj motorcycles used for the kidnapping
PPRO Mohammed said that the case is under investigation after which suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
Meanwhile the Bauchi Police Command also arrested 2 suspects for murder of one Nasiru Jibrin over an allegation of theft.
Police spokesman, Haruna Mohammed said, “On the 5/2/2016 at about 4pm, detectives attached to Township Division arrested 2 suspects at Kofar Idi Bauchi for taking laws into their hands and tortured one Nasiru Jibrin male, 22yrs of Unguwan Bauchi to death over an allegation of theft of which no exhibit was recovered”.
He warned members of the public against taking laws into their hands and not to relent in providing useful information to the command to enable it provide safety and security in the state.
