Oyo State Police Command on Thursday, arraigned a suspected killer of his grandfather and uncle, Nurudeen Ahmed before an Oyo State Magistrate Court sitting in Ibadan.

The Magistrate Court however, ordered that Ahmed be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility till November this year.

Arraigning Ahmed for allegedly killing his 80-year old grandfather and uncle on a two-count charge of murder, Police prosecutor, Inspector Olalekan Adegbite, said he (Ahmed) committed the offences on September 8, at Apete area of Ibadan.

The Police Prosecutor also told the Court that Ahmed unlawfully caused the death of his 80-year-old grandfather, Jimoh Oyekola, and his 46-year-old uncle, Semiu Oyekola, while preventing him from stealing.

Inspector Adegbite, stressed that on the fateful day, Ahmed attacked his grandfather and uncle, “when they tried to prevent him from stealing from their house”, and strangled his grandfather and hit his uncle with a power bank on the jaw, when he tried to rescue the old man.

He noted that the offences contravene Sections 319 and 316 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho, did not take the plea of the defendant for lack of jurisdiction and directed the police to return the case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Magistrate Osho adjourned the case till November 12 this year, for mention.
