PLSG to build 30,000 Low Cost Housing units

Plateau State has concluded arrangement through public private partnership (PPP) to provide 30,000 affordable housing unit to medium and low income workers as it has an estimated deficit of about 50,000 houses, with huge financial and other challenges to compete, Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly, RT Hon peter Azi has said.
Hon Azi stated this at Lamonde Hotel, Apollo Crescent GRA, Jos during a special Town Hall meeting to discuss and flag off the profiling and qualification of off-takers  potential landlords to be sited in Pengana constituency of the state.
“This presents a huge infrastructural development opportunity for government of the day with multiplier effect of socio-political stability through job creation and poverty eradication, usually associated with mass housing development” he stressed
The speaker  pledged the readiness of Governor Simon Bako Lalong to meet up the housing deficit through the partnership of the private sector in the state.
Represented by the member representing Dengi Constituency, Hon Sale Shehu Yipmang, he said “this special town hall meeting to discuss affordable housing opportunity to our citizens of Plateau State  under the public private partnership would go a long way to reduce hardship been faced by the people”.
The speaker assured that as legislators, they are already working hard to providing friendly laws to boost all related land activities for better environment.
Member representing Pengana, Hon Ezekial Afon said the project is timely considering the fact that government is working hard to encourage entrepreneurship and value chain consultant which in turn add value to the economy of the state.
He appreciated government and value chain for citing the project in his constituency, as this will bring meaninful development to his people and promised to provide the necessary support in the course of execution.
Director urban planning and Chairman implementation committee PPP Housing programs, Barr N.O Games said Plateau State with estimated 500, 000 housing deficit has partnered the PPP to provide the houses.
He urged them to take advantage of this initiative and become house owners.
