Members of the Shi’it, Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Plateau State zone has reiterated call for the unconditional release of their spiritual leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
They also lamented the plight of fifty of their members arrested by security agents in Jos on 12/10/2016.
Zonal leader of the sect Dr. Ibrahim Sulaiman Jahun, made this known to journalists at a press conference in Jos.
According to him, the army molested, intimidated, including shooting of teargas on members of IMN. They “arrested and subjected many Muslims to illegal harassment and charged to court.”
The IMN said the condition in which some minors and women including pregnant and nursing mothers are is unbearable.
“…the trial judge granted the bail to the minors, injured, pregnant women and feeding mother, on condition that Jama’atu Nasril Islam should sign the bail application which they rejected and that two  civil servants on level 14 should also stand for them” it added.
They said twenty two out of the fifty people in detention are students, “thirteen of which are minors including a nine year old pupil.”
The IMN said its members are still been arrested for report on issues that bothers them to the police.
“On Monday 24/10/16, three of the members of IMN reported to the police that items stolen from the IMN’s demolished Markaz were seen being sold. Instead of the Police to act accordingly, they detained the complainants and charged them to court,” it alleged.
According to the leader, the IMN is ready to lawfully challenge the ban placed on them by the Plateau State Government.
“We are against the government’s ill treatment of members, grant of bail is constitutional right.
“We reiterate our position that we are peaceful and non violent in our conduct for about four decades and so we remain.”
They explained that they will utilize the legal machineries to demand for justice up to the criminal court of justice.
