Peace Corps Commandant donates books to Alma Mata

Cross River Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Patriot Okweche Dominic has donated hundred dozens of exercise books to pupils of his former school, Community Primary School, Ibiaragidi.
Okweche who gained his primary education from the school located in his country home in Ibiaragid, Bekwerra local government area of the state also extended the gesture to the neighboring school, St. Dominic Primary School Ibiaragidi-Iye.
Explaining his motivation over the donation to his Alma Mata he said that it has been his nature to contribute to the development of education at all levels.
Okweche, further said that it was time for well meaning Nigerians to think of supporting government’s efforts to improve standard of education in the country.
According to him, “for me, it is a great privilege and honour to return to this school which set the pace for me to be everything I am today. I feel fulfilled by putting smiles on the faces of this young Nigerians who will grow to become captains of industries, top business men and women and leaders”.
According to hin “the essence of life for me is to improve the standard of living of people around me and anybody who God has blessed but not helping others to climb the corporate ladder is under using and abusing the privilege”.
Commending what she described as an “uncommon gesture”, the Head Mistress of the school, Mrs. Martina Ineji, said that such kindness was rare among people who are not holding political offices and urged high placed individuals to always think of giving back to the society.
She expressed that surprise that despite the economic recession which has brought untold hardship to Nigerians, the Peace Corp Commandant whom she described as “philanthropist” could dole out such huge amount of money to buy hundreds of books for pupils.
Ineji said “the joy that greeted the pupil faces almost made me cry. We are overwhelmingly excited and pray God continues to replenish your pocket and give you a robust heart to do more for the needy as that is what you are known for”.
