PDP Wins Kaduna Northern Senatorial  Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Khalid Ibrahim-Mustapha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Kaduna North Senatorial District election.

Declaring the results, the returning officer for the election,  Saleh Ado of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria,  announced the result in Zaria on Monday.

According to him, 12 political parties  contested the election.

Mr Ado said Hon. Khalid-Mustapha Ibrahim secured 250,026 votes to defeat his closest rival, the incumbent Senator, Kwari Suleiman Abdu of the APC, who scored 190,008 votes.

He said that Usman Bawa of NNPP scored 28,511 to come third, while Sidi Ibrahim Bamalli of the Labour Party polled 28,418 votes.

The returning officer also said Ahmed Wakili of the PRP scored 3453 votes; Abdullahi Suleiman of ADC, 3,678 and Hassan Muktari of the ZLP, 582 votes.

Khalid Ibrahim Mustapha of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and returned elected.

Also the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Tajuddeen Abbas of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Zaria Federal Constituency in Kaduna State few with 49,595 votes.

Aminu Mohammed of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, the INEC Returning Officer for the election, announced the result in Zaria on Monday.

He said Hon. Tajudden Abbas secured 49,595 votes to defeat his closest rival, Shuaibu Musa Indabo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 47,419 votes.

While Sulaiman Dabo of the Labour Party scored 13,882 to come third, while Dikko-Shamsuddeen Abubakar of NNPP polled 4,076 vote

For the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, Sadiq Ango Abdullahi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who spent 69 days in captivity, has won the Sabon Gari federal constituency election with 33,616.

He defeated the fourth time member representing the constituency in the National Assembly, Mohammed Garba Datti of the APC who polls 31,737 votes.

Recall that Ango Abdullahi was one of kidnapped victims of Kaduna train attack who was elected as PDP candidate for the seat while in captivity.

He is the son of the Chairman, Northern Elders Forum, Prof. Ango Abdullahi.
