A People Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Oyo State, Engineer Femi Babalola has hinted that the forthcoming National Congress of the party will mark beginning of its rebirth.
Engineer Babalola who stated this during an interview with Journalists in Ibadan declared that it will be wrong for any person or group to say the party is dead.
According to the PDP leader, the structure of the party is fully on ground in every local government and states across the country and that the African factor which usually forced people to accept failure as a challenge will not affect the bouncing back of PDP as a political party.
Babalola pointed out that as at present, many of the prominent figures in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are PDP product and when it is time, they will trace back their root and return back home.
“We are going to take collective decision this time around, just as we did in 1999. I foresee a sober group of people coming to correct past mistakes. In the process to correct past mistakes, you will see sincerity of purpose,” he said.
Engineer Babalola added that “one of our problems in Africa is that we don’t see failure as a challenge. You can fail but it is not the end of the road.
“PDP will not allow that to affect its rebirth. We are going to come together and strategies on the way forward. The structure PDP has is enormous and very strong. No part of the country you travel to in Nigeria today that you will not see PDP structure. So, PDP is alive and the forthcoming congress is the beginning of its rebirth”.
The PDP Chieftain maintained that “all we need to do now is to re-galvanise the system. People know the potentials of the party and they can’t allow it to die off like that. They know is the best among equal that is why they are searching for the soul of a dead horse.
“We won’t allow this house to collapse and even if it collapses, I can assure you that it is only the fabricated structure that collapsed and we must bring it back”.
