A member of the House of Representatives and Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Honourable Albert Abiodun Adeogun on has said with the last Friday ruling of the Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the party now need amicable political settlement of its prolonged leadership crisis.
Honourable Adeogun in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan declared that the Appeal court verdict which upheld Senator Ali Modu Sherif as the Chairman of PDP was a setback to the party.
The PDP leader pointed out that “it is better to resolve PDP crisis amicably in a political way rather than a resort to litigation” saying it was the legal battle in Ondo state that resulted into the defeat of party in the state’s governorship election.
“That Modu Sherif won in the verdict in Port Harcourt did not foreclose the end of the conflict as the Makarfi”s faction would challenge the verdict in the apex court. It is worrisome because the judgment does not have a way of
evaluating the support which Sheriff has in the party because Makarfi has over 80 percent of  the NASS Members and the party structure” he said.
The lawmaker representing Ife federal constituency stressed further “I strongly believe that the resolution of the conflict would be better done politically and not through resort to litigation”
Honourable Adeogun while predicting that Senator Sherif would lose at the end of the day, noted that as at present in Nigeria, PDP stands as a better alternative party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Honourable Adeogun said APC has failed to satisfy the yawning and aspiration of Nigerians despite its “deceitful change mantra which it used to snatch power.”
Emphasizing that “no matter the antics of Senator Sherif and others, PDP will bounce back to power”, he asked all leaders of PDP to unite and ensure they sink their differences to enable the party regain its old glory and deliver Nigerians from oppressors.
