Following the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) state Congress that took place on Saturday, Barrister Tahir Shehu has been re-elected as the state chairman of the party in Adamawa.
New Nigerian reports that Shehu alongside 38 others who were all sole candidates were elected by 2,422 delegates from across the 21 local government areas after dissolution of state party exco in line with PDP guidelines.
The delegates had earlier gone through accreditation process before the elections commenced proper at 10am with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri and Atiku Abubakar being the first and second to cast their votes.
Declaring the results after the congress, the chairman of the national committee of the PDP state congress in Adamawa who is the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri congratulated the new exco for emerging victorious.
Diri said the event has proved that PDP is united and formidable, stressing that he believed that the new PDP leaders will pilot the affairs of the party in Adamawa to pedestal of progress and development.
He thanked delegates, party leaders and stakeholders especially Governor Fintri and Atiku Abubakar for ensuring successful conduct of the Congress in the state.
The chairman who is the returning officer for the Congress said PDP is pleased with the way Fintri has transformed the state through infrastructural drive and other sectors.
Responding on behalf of the newly elected exco, the state chairman of PDP, Shehu appreciated the delegates for their election and pledged that they will build the party to the pedestal of development.
He assured that the newly elected exco will rally round the governor and former Vice President to making the party strong to takeover the leadership of the country.
