People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of doctoring results of March 18 Kaduna governorship election in order to declare candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC) Uba Sani winner of the exercise.
Kaduna State PDP Chairman Felix Hassan Heyet disclosed this at a press briefing in the party’s Secretariat where he urged INEC to immediately declare Isa Ashiru duly elected governor of the state.
He stated that the piecemeal announcement of results which should have been concluded long time ago was a strategy by the electoral umpire in connivance with the ruling party in the state to subvert the mandate of people whom he noted voted Ashiru as next governor of capital of the old Northern Region.
“Any attempt to change the results, is amounting to denying the people the right to their choice. We appreciate the people of our dear state for their support and confidence in PDP.
“We task Kaduna INEC to be just and fair like Kano with 44 Local Government Areas which has long announced its election results, while Kaduna who has just 23 local government areas is yet to be announced.
“INEV should declare Isa Ashiru as the winner of the election, because We are aware APC has gone ahead to initiate new collation of two wards in Kudan LGA, where the PDP candidate is from.
” We are concerned about the delay, is it that INEC’s postponement is a tactics by the state government to imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in order to deny the people to the their right”, he asked.
