Pay tax where govt works, Kwarans told

Kwara state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed yesterday said the people of the state will only pay tax on lands where infrastructures are provided by government .
The governor who made the disclosure while fielding question from journalist during a monthly media chat at the government house in Ilorin also noted that the land itself is nothing without infrastructure.
According to him when a land is openned up by government and infrastructure like water , electricity and roads are put in place to add value to the land then the government need to collect tax to pay for those services.
He said people living in the high brow areas of the city where money is made should know that they are to pay tax in accordance with the land use act of the state.
He noted that for those who live in the suburb without water ,good road or electricity need not to pay tax as no value was added to their land.
He said the people of the state should understand with the government when ever they are asked to pay for tax on services provided for them.
He maintained that  it is the responsibility of  government  to execute projects onbehalf of the people of the state .
He said if government provides. The enabling environment by providing infrastructures investors will come in to establish industries and in turn provide jobs for the people.
On the issue of his visit abroad the governor said such trips have already yielded fruits ,adding that some of their patners in America have indicated intrest to assist them with heath care facilities for the state owned general hospitals  which are under going renovation.
He said others too will soon come as soon as the Federal government review  and de-risk agricultural production in the country.
On the issue of insecurity governor Ahmed said it is a global problems ,urging the general public to continue to support the security agencies with information in order to reduce it to the bearest minimum.
He said the state government has invested into the provision of adequate security for the people of the state.
On the maintenance of clean environment the governor assured the people of the state that the clean nature of the state will not be compromised.
He urged them to continue to support government projects and programmes as the state is destined for greatness.
