Parents have been urged to encourage education of their wards by enrolling them in schools where they can get the kind of teaching they require to become good leaders of tomorrow and also ensure that they pay their fees regularly.
This call was made by the Proprietress of Shelter Academy, Narayi, Kaduna, Mrs. Tola Olubiyo, at the 5th Annual Speech/Prize Giving and Graduation Ceremony held at the school premises last Friday.
According to her, parents should outside this help teachers in bringing up their wards to become responsible by encouraging moral education acquired in school at home instead of harassing them as is done today by some parents.
“In our school here, we try to raise children the ways of the Lord, in the way that pleases God. Our basic objective is to make parents know God better through their children.”
She asked parents of children who didn’t get awards not to blame them, but to encourage them to strive harder next time.
In his contribution, The Chairman of the Occasion, Mr. Vincent Akinbami who is also the brother of the proprietress advised the children to abide with what they are taught and begged parents to monitor the activities of their children, because, according to him the society today is full of immortality, charging them to be vigilant.
“As parents we have plenty of work to do on our children to compliment efforts of their teachers.”
