The Management of Pankshin College of Health Technology has appealed to Plateau State Government for a new permanent site to fast track their movement from the temporary site.
Mr Pam Dagyang, the College Acting Provost, who made the appeal in a chat with newsmen in Jos, decried the nonchalant attitude of the natives, who own the controversial proposed permanent site.
Dagyang lamented the situation where the natives kept the college and the state government in the dark over their consent to allow construction work to commence on the site.
“We have embarked on various dialogue and persuasion toward getting the consent of the natives and owners of the land proposed for the college permanent site, to no avail.
“It is not wise for us to continue with the waiting game for years, when we are being frustrated at developing this college, being the first Health College in Nigeria, established in 1976.
“Our resolve as a management is for the state  government to jettison the idea of that land and shop for a new plot for us to enable us start something and move out of this  temporary site,’’ he said.
The provost explained that the college continuous operation at a temporary site has been robbing it of full accreditation of some of its courses and that such set back should not be allowed at all.
He called on the state government to rise to the challenge and help fast track the rapid development of the institution to catch up with its contemporary colleges in the country.
The provost said that his predecessor tried at transforming the college to what it is today which he hoped to build on that and give the college the desired face lift as a health institution.
He said that could not be achieved without the support of the staffers, whom he urged to be more dedicated to their works.
The college boss warned against indolence and truancy so as not to deprive the college from churning out best health professionals that would impact on the society.
Dagyang disclosed that the college was in dire need of more lecture halls, seats and Anatomy Laboratory for students’ conducive learning environment
.
“We have already ordered for the release of one million Naira for the equipment meant for the Anatomy Laboratory as part of our desire to develop the college,’’
