Accord governorship candidate in Oyo State, Oloye Bayo Adelabu has declared that education is now in a parlous state under the present administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Oloye Adelabu through his media office, the Bayo Adelabu Campaign Organisation (BACO) in a reaction to protest on Monday  by the students of The Polytechnic against the unfair increment in Refusal Fee from N5,000 to N15,

000 accused the Governor Makinde administration of paying lip service to education
He stressed that it was unfortunate that Oyo State education is in total mess from primary to tertiary schools, under the present government of the Gov Makinde led People’s Democratic party administration
The Accord governorship candidate pointed out that Oyo State occupied 33rd position on current WAEC ratings due to the alleged lacklustre performance of Governor  Makinde led government in education.
According to Oloye Adelabu,  it is sad that over 50 secondary schools were delisted by WAEC over incidences of examination malpractices which were rife under the watch of the present administration.
He stressed further that it was unfortunate that Oyo state government had stopped giving running grants to schools since three years ago on the excuse that secondary school principals did not give account of the running grant they received in 2020 and that “the result of the non provision of funds to schools was that schools could not provide basic educational material needs of  teachers and students in the course of teaching and learning”, he said.
The Accord governorship candidate then assured the students and the people of Oyo State of his determination to give priority to education at all levels if he was elected governor of the state in the general election this  March.
While promising  that his administration would create conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning for pupils of primary and secondary schools and students of tertiary schools, Oloye Adelabu said education in Oyo State would be qualitative under his watch while educational infrastructures would be provided for the teeming primary, secondary and tertiary schools across the state.
