Oyo NSCDC Command Arrests 42-yr Old Man Over Alleged N17m Fraud, 9 Others For Various Crimes

The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 42-year old man identified as Bakare Jide Damilare for alleged conspiracy and obtaining N17 million by false pretense.

According to a statement by the Oyo NSCDC Command Public Relations Office, DSC Samuel Opebiyi, the Command’s Tracking Unit, arrested several suspects involved in various financial fraud schemes, including Bakare Jide Damilare, alleged of conspiracy and obtaining N17 million by false pretense.

Oyo NSCDC stressed that the suspect and his accomplice allegedly used multiple bank accounts to defraud one Sarumi Hakeem in a scheme involving the purchase of a Toyota Highlander Jeep (2016 model).

Also, four other suspects including a female POS attendant, Victoria Akanbi were arrested for fraud related crimes by the command.

According to the statement by the command, one of the suspects, Alabi Victor, 25 allegedly used his father’s account to defraud an individual while three other suspects, Abiodun Oluwafemi, Akinloye Sakirat Folasade, and Victoria Akanbi – were arrested for allegedly defrauding a store owner of N738,670.

The statement stressed that Victoria Akanbi, working as a POS attendant, reportedly transferred the fraudulently obtained funds to her accomplices between October 2023 and August 2024.

Four other suspects identified as Qayum Babatunde, 18, Azim Gbadamosi, 19, Mutiu Olaniyi, 43, (commercial driver) and Moshood Oyindamola, 23, (unlicensed nurse who performed the abortion) were arrested in connection with the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl, which resulted in pregnancy and subsequent illegal abortion.

Also, another suspect Aminu Victor, 19, from Adamawa State, was arrested for allegedly raping his boss’s 9-year-old daughter.

Oyo State NSCDC Command then assured the public that all suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations and
urged the people of the state to report any suspicious activities to NSCDC or other security agencies.
