Oyo NSCDC Arrests Illegal Miner, 7 Other Criminal Suspects

The Oyo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,(NSCDC), Mr Augustine Padonu has disclosed that eight suspected criminals are now in the command’s net.

Mr Padonu who said this while parading the suspects on Wednesday at the State Command Headquarters in Ibadan, disclosed that the suspects were arrested 

following  credible intelligence over the activities of criminal elements in every nook and cranny in the state

The NSCDC State Commandant identified the arrested suspects as Bande Mohammed, male, age 45yrs, Useni  Yoyo, male 45yrs, Olalekan Ibrahim, male, age 25yrs, Akinpelu Ibrahim, male, age 25yrs, Folarin Bankole, male, 52yrs, and Olokun Olawale male, 33yrs, others are Abdulkadir Sahadu male, age 50yrs and Afolabi Moses male, 44yrs.

According to Commandant Padonu, Bande Mohammed was arrested on Saturday  February 3, 2024, at 1500hrs at a Fulani settlement in   Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State for allegedly dealing in illegal mining activities at a neighbouring community known as Dabo-Zamia village in collaboration with a suspected illegal miner, who is at large, operating without license.

He stressed that Malam Useni Yoyo was nabbed by a combined team of NSCDC Agro Rangers for allegedly grazing his herd of cattle with crops on farmland of an innocent citizens of Ilora Community and thereafter willfully destroyed the farm produce worth about N5m without any compensation.

The Oyo State NSCDC command Commandant stated that two other suspects, Olalekan Ibrahim and Akinpelu Lekan on facemask who both specialized in motor spare parts theft were arrested by the command with Items recovered from them including one  tipper gear selector, one cap gear, one gear flag and eight belt buckles.

He stressed further that another two suspects, Folarin Banko and Olokun Olawale, who preliminary investigation revealed used their point of sales (POS) machine to fraudulently received money from a cellphone forcefully collected from an unsuspecting members of the public at a gunpoint during an armed robbery operation in November last year by yet to be identified fleeing armed robbery gang who went with the complainants Highlander Toyota Jeep.

He stated that  two other  suspects Abdulkadir Sahadu male 50yrs and Afolabi Moses male 44yrs were arrested for stealing a Bajaj Motorcycle with registration  BDJ 413 UG reportedly parked at CAC  Oke Agbara, Ashi, Bodija,  on 2nd February 2024, around 1126hrs.

Commandant Padonu then urged members of the public to be vigilant and also ready to provide useful information to NSCDC and other Security agencies so as to collectively fight crime and criminality in the State. The suspects will be arraign in Court after the completion of the investigation.
