Tragedy struck in Itose area of the Oyo-Ibadan express road on Saturday when 10 people were killed in an auto crash during a lone accident.
According to an eye witness, two children and 8 adults (4 males and 4 females) reportedly died on the spot while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The eye witness stated that the auto crash involved an Ilorin~ Ogbomoso bound Toyota Hias bus marked LS D 191 XK said to be heading for Ilorin from Sango Otta in Ogun State.
It was gathered that the bus ran into a ditch beside a filling station along the express road when the driver identified as Baba Ibeji suddenly sighted men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who were on a routine check on the road.
The driver was reported to have lost control and swerved off the road and rammed into a nearby filling station’s wall fence and later into a deep ditch resulting in the passengers been thrown off the bus.
Contacted by the New Nigerian, the Public Relations Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Oyo State Command, Mr Tunde Onijala confirmed the story.
Mr Onijala said four male adults, four female adults and two children lost their lives in the auto crash while others sustained injuries.
