Oyo guber: Ladoja drags Ajimobi, APC to Supreme Court

The Accord Party governorship candidate in Oyo State for the April 11 polls, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has headed for the Supreme Court to challenge the verdict of the Appeal Court on the petition he filed against the election of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
According to a statement signed by Senator Ladoja’s Senior media assistant, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the processes were filed at the Supreme Court which was the last of the 14 days required by law to do so.
Alhaji Latinwo attributed the filing of the petition on the last day to the “unnecessary delay in the release of the Appellate Court judgment by the panel that handled the appeal”.
He declared that copy of the Appellate Court judgment was released at 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 29, alleging that the gesture speaks volumes of calculated effort to frustrate the challenging of the panel’s decision at the highest court.
Alhaji Latinwo pointed out that if not for God and the determination of Senator Ladoja and his legal team, contesting the outcome of the appeal at the Supreme Court would have suffered a technical difficulty as a result of the landmines buried by the panel.
“Senator Ladoja wondered why the Appeal Court panel, knowing full well that the appellants have 14 days within which to challenge the outcome of the appeal, refused to release the judgment which is the most vital document required by the Supreme Court. The judgment was released at about 4:30pm on Tuesday, December 29, while Wednesday December 30 was the last day the appellants have to contest the verdict. Despite this barrier erected against justice, Senator Ladoja was able to beat the deadline,” he said.
Alhaji Latinwo stressed further that Senator “Ladoja gave glory to God that the obvious conspiracy against the honest pursuit of justice failed woefully. We have filed the requisite documents at the Apex Court. Senator Ladoja reiterates his belief in the Supreme Court to render due justice his petition and that of Accord.”
