Oyo govt will no longer tolerate vandalization of its property- Ishola

BAYO AKAMO, Ibadan

Oyo state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Isaac Ishola on Tuesday warned that the state government will no longer tolerate acts of  vandalization of public utility in and across the state.

Mr Ishola handed down the warning in Ibadan while speaking on the vandalization of the Molete roundabout multi million naira beautification project by the Oyo state government in Ibadan.
Our investigations revealed that some  of the painted iron fence decoration at the popular Molete bridge have been destroyed and stolen by suspected vandals.

Handling down the warning, the Commissioner declared that the Ministry will not tolerate  negative disposition to environmental sanitation in the state as well as  public disobedience to the environmental laws in the State.

Mr Ishola added that henceforth, whoever disobeys the Oyo state environmental laws would be arraigned before the state’s mobile court for proper sanctions.
The Commissioner however urged the people of Oyo state to continue with their unflinching support towards the efforts of the government in improving the public health status through maintenance of good hygiene and environmental sanitation for clean atmosphere..

Sources in the MOLETE area of Ibadan attributed the vandalization of the beautification iron fence to the handwork of suspected thugs in the area  alleged of making easy money through the  cutting and selling of the irons.

Condemning the act of vandalization, a resident in Molete area of Ibadan, Alhaji Ismail Adeogun maintained those responsible for such are  cursed, saying, ” look at the area and see  they have turned it into , a very beautiful environment loved by every good person” .
