Oyo College Of Agric ASUP Begins 21 Day Warning Strike Over Salary Arrears

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, ASUP, Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igboora has directed its members to embark on 21 days warning strike over non payment of their 9months salary arrears.
ASUP in the letter to its members with reference number ASUP/no 2/WWS dated 24/11/2016 titled “Declaration of 21 days warning strike” stated that the strike will be total.
It stressed in the letter jointly signed by its General Secretary, Comrades Opadejo O.O and the Chairman Tunde Adeniyi that the warning strike will end on Tuesday December, 27.
The congress of our great union at its emergency meeting of 24 November, 2016 declared 21 working day warning strike beginning from Friday 25th November to Tuesday December 27 as a result of the expiration of the ultimatum issued to demand for immediate payment of 9months outstanding salary arrears among other demands” it said.
According to ASUP, “the 21 day warning strike is declared in order to compel the College Management cum Oyo state government to accede to the union’s demands”.
The Union gave the demands to include “payment of 9 months salary arrears in order to ameliorate our battered financial situation and save us from sudden, avoidable and untimely death which one of the College staff has suffered among other untold hardship”.
ASUP in the letter also demanded “immediate release of the report of government investigation committee, immediate stoppage of payment of salary in fractions, continuous granting of 100% subvention to our College as a result of its relatively young age among others”.
“The declared strike will be total as there will be no teaching, no examination, no project supervision and no attendance of any statutory; Academic board, faculty, departmental and Committees.”
