*demands beefing up security around Senator Folarin

Worried by an alleged threat to the life of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin by the Chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi Auxillary, the party on Sunday, asked security agencies to beef up security around him.
The party in a statement by a group, APC Diaspora on Sunday, tasked the security agencies in Oyo State to investigate the said alleged threat to the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections.
In the statement signed by its Secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite, the group emphasized that, ” if anything untoward happens to our party’s governorship candidate or any of his close allies before, during or after the general elections, we have no choice but to call on the state security agencies, particularly the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to expedite investigation on Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi’s threat to Senator Teslim Folarin’s life before it is too late”, it said
APC Diaspora added, ” the Police and the DSS should beef up security around the APC governorship candidate as previous threats by Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi were actualized by vandalism, attacks, intimidations, and purported killing and maiming of his targets.
” We are intimating the general public to hold Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi Auxiliary and his principal, Governor Seyi Makinde accountable if anything untoward happens to our party’s governorship candidate or any of his close allies before, during or after the general elections.”
They maintained in the statement that APC leaders and members in and across Oyo State are already in fears over the safety of Senator Folarin as the PMS leader in the said viral video, was vehemently threatening the APC governorship candidate.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has been drawn to a video currently in circulation that shows the Chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, aka Auxiliary, vehemently threatening the APC governorship candidate in the state, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin.
” We wish to express our concern about the safety of Senator Teslim Folarin based on the vicious antecedents of Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi which have resulted in the loss of many lives and properties in recent years”.
APC Diaspora stressed, ” the infamous clash at the Iwo road interchange that killed a medical student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and countless intending travelers, the bloody attack on innocent telephone sellers at Iwo road that claimed the life of one of the phone sellers in the area, and the recent attack on residents of Ali-Iwo area that killed two people are still vivid in our memories”.
The statement alleged further, “there is no doubt that Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi views our party and its governorship candidate as the stumbling block to his principal, Engineer Seyi Makinde’s second term bid, and he seems to have decided to eliminate certain political bigwigs in our party in order to pave the way for his principal’s emergence”.
