As the 2019 general elections draw nearer, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Thursday declared that Governor Abiola Ajimobi should not be allowed to choose his successor come 2019.
Engineer Makinde gave the advice in a statement issued by the Seyi Makinde organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
The PDP governorship aspirant said it was unfortunate that some governorship aspirants in the state especially in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are still promising to continue with the agenda of Governor Ajimobi if they are elected rather than being their selves.
“I still don’t understand why an aspirant will say he’ll continue the regime of sufferings, treating pensioners with disdain, reckless external borrowing, dabbling into our revered traditional institutions, neglecting educational and health sectors in spite of stupendous amount of money accruing to the administration.” he said.
Engineer Makinde stressed that” if Governor Ajimobi is allowed to choose his own successor, Oyo state will be in worse financial bondage especially with the APC aspirants already pledging to continue with his style of leadership.”
Attributing the problem with Oyo state to “misplaced priorities bothering on preference for self serving projects rather than care for the populace”, the PDP governorship aspirant said he plans to do everything differently because he wants to stir oyo state away from being a debtor state and a state ruled with the milk of human kindness.
